TOCCOA JUNIOR LEAGUERS MOVE TO 2-0 IN POOL
PLAY August 4, 2008
The Toccoa Junior League baseball team escaped its most exciting game to this
point in all of their tournaments this year, defeating West Virginia 4-3 and
moving to 2-0 in pool play. With the win, Toccoa assures itself of a spot in the
semifinals and will face Florida today to determine the #1 and #2 seeds from
Pool A. Michael Ritcey was named Player of the Game for his stellar pitching
performance in relief of Dustin McCall. Dylan Parker came on in the seventh to
record the last two outs with the bases loaded. Offensively, Toccoa was led by
Barrett Smith, who collected two RBI’s and a double in four at-bats. In
addition, Ethan Lord was 2 for 2 with 2 singles and a walk. On Saturday, Toccoa
defeated Tennessee in its opening game.
